Canada Immigration and Autism Links
Are you asking yourself "Should we apply as immigrants to Canada if our child has autism?" Or maybe you're wondering, "Will my child's autism affect our immigration application to Canada?"
This is my honest answer:
If your dependent has autism, even high functioning autism or Asperger's syndrome , DON'T even TRY to apply for immigration. In my honest opinion. Save your money.
Why do I think so? View these articles to see how Canada immigration does not look at autistic dependents with favor, because they will use too much financial resources in Canada:

Look at these official pages:
1. this is from the Handbook for Designated Medical Practitioners(those who do the medical screening for Canada immigration applicants)
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/ ... dix-02.asp - Question 16. also Section A of the IMM 1017 form. They screen for developmental delay and cognitive abilities (mental status), which are deficits in autism, in the medical exam. Remember, it is the visa officers who will compute the cost of care of your autistic child, not you. So even if you actually spend little for your dependent's therapies, they will compute how much it will cost Canada to care for your autistic child. The result=medical inadmissibility.
2. Download the handbook for yourself and see how they screen for autism and other developmental disorders in the forms and the medical exams: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/pub/dmp-handbook.pdf
I hope you will be prudent enough to withhold and stop yourself from applying to save yourself rejection and heartache and money as well. Just my opinion.

Далее, идем в handbook (по Вашей рекомендации) в Global assessment of function - и там черным по белому написано - если есть Conditions such as autism - необходим GAF report.

GAF report

PDD or pervasive developmental disorder is a behavioral disorder of speech, communication, social interaction, and repetitive type compulsive behavior. Autism is a form of PDD. There are five types of PDD's. The most commonly encountered are PDD NOS (pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified), childhood autism, and Asperger's syndrome. All these "different" conditions have common diagnostic and physiologic features but differ slightly by the specific diagnostic criteria.
PDD NOS will present similarly to the kids who have autism (some people argue that these conditions should be combined as one), but will have a lesser degree of a severe impairment. These kids are more likely to be verbal and have some degree of verbal or non-verbal effective communication, yet they must have the autistic features (as per the DSM IV criteria) and a severe impairment in social interaction, communication, or repetitive stereotype behavior. This term is reserved for children with a severe impairment who do not fully qualify for any other autistic diagnosis, due to age of onset or combination of autistic features.
The DSM IV criteria for the autistic disorders
The full diagnostic criteria for the pervasive developmental disorders are outlined below. As mentioned above, the diagnostic criteria for the autistic (PDD) disorders are defined by the DSM IV criteria.
Childhood autism
A total of six (or more) items from (1), (2), and (3), with at least two from (1), and one each from (2) and (3):
Qualitative impairment in social interaction, as manifested by at least two of the following:
marked impairment in the use of multiple nonverbal behaviors such as eye-to-eye gaze, facial expression, body postures, and gestures to regulate social interaction.
failure to develop peer relationships appropriate to developmental level
a lack of spontaneous seeking to share enjoyment, interests, or achievements with other people (e.g., by a lack of showing, bringing, or pointing out objects of interest)
lack of social or emotional reciprocity
Qualitative impairments in communication as manifested by at least one of the following:
delay in, or total lack of, the development of spoken language (not accompanied by an attempt to compensate through alternative modes of communication such as gesture or mime)
in individuals with adequate speech, marked impairment in the ability to initiate or sustain a conversation with others
stereotyped and repetitive use of language or idiosyncratic language
lack of varied spontaneous make-believe play or social imitative play appropriate to developmental level
Restricted, repetitive, and stereotyped patterns of behavior, interests, and activities, as manifested by at least of one of the following:
encompassing preoccupation with one or more stereotyped and restricted patterns of interest that is abnormal either in intensity or focus
apparently inflexible adherence to specific, nonfunctional routines or rituals
stereotyped and repetitive motor mannerisms (e.g. hand or finger flapping or twisting, or complex whole body movements)
persistent preoccupation with parts of objects
Delays or abnormal functioning in at least one of the following areas, with onset prior to age 3 years: (1) social interaction, (2) language as used in social communication, or (3) symbolic or imaginative play.
The disturbance is not better accounted for by Rett's disorder or childhood disintegrative disorder.
Canadian immigration application refused on medical grounds: autistic teenager
Couple denied permanent residence despite son not immigrating to Canada.
Robert and Pauline Crowe of England have been deemed inadmissible to Canada because Robert has an autistic son – a son who he does not have primary custody of and who would never move to Canada anyway.
Lewis Crowe, 17, lives with his mother in England and has a huge network of support there. So much so, that according to his father and stepmother it would be crazy for him to move to Canada and leave his friends and the possibility of attending a British college for people with learning disabilities.
Lewis’s father has a sister living near Ottawa, who he visits from time to time on a tourist visa and recently applied for permanent resident cards for only himself and his wife – not Lewis.
Lewis’s autism now renders his father and stepmother inadmissible to Canada, and he also cannot visit Canada without permission from Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
Why was their son even considered on their permanent residence application?
Lewis is considered a dependent of the couple because he is under the age of 22. Because of this, Lewis was considered on their application despite him not needing one, and he (and his parents) were subsequently denied permanent residence because his autism could put an excessive strain on Canada’s health and social services.
So even being associated with someone with a disability can lead to denial of permanent residence, which the Council of Canadians with Disabilities is see as ”strange”.
