Использует ли кто-нибудь мопед, мотороллер, мокик для поездок из дома в город, по городу, из дома на работу? Машина удобнее, я в курсе, но эти устройства сильно дешевле в эксплуатации и не такие утомительные как велосипед.
Может быть, даже если не используете, то в курсе, нужны ли права в Канаде для езды на них, нужна ли страховка и часто ли канадцы используют мотороллеры и др. для езды?

Не из личного опыта, но судя по интернет страницам нормально эта тема развита

Moped in Canada

In Canada the Moped has been repealed from the Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations.[3] Nevertheless the vehicle itself is still legislated within various provinces.

In Alberta, Canada, mopeds up to 49 cc and over 55 kilograms require a class 6 motorcycle licence. If they are between 35 and 55 kilograms a class 7 is required. In addition to this, they must not have a driver-operated transmission. They are allowed to carry more than one person. Mopeds are subject to all of the same traffic laws as other vehicles, and all riders must wear helmets.[4]

In Bristish Columbia, Canada mopeds are called a Motor Assisted Cycle (MAC):

* the electric motor must be 500 watts or less and be capable of propelling the cycle no faster than 32 km/h on level ground without pedalling

* it must be equipped with a mechanism that either:

1. allows the driver to turn the motor on and off, or
2. prevents the motor from turning on or engaging before the MAC attains a speed of 3 km/h

* the motor must disengage when the operator does at least one of the following:

1. stops pedalling, or
2. releases the accelerator, or
3. applies a brake

* it must be capable of being propelled by muscular power using the pedals, but it is not necessary to always be pedalling

* it must meet any additional conditions set forth in the Motor Assisted Cycle Regulations (B.C. Reg 151/2002)

In Ontario, Canada, "a moped is a motor-assisted bicycle fitted with pedals that can be operated at all times and has a maximum speed of 50 km/h."[5] A motor assisted bicycle is a bicycle:

(a) that is fitted with pedals that are operable at all times to propel the bicycle,

(b) that weighs not more than fifty-five kilograms,

(c) that has no hand or foot operated clutch or gearbox driven by the motor and transferring power to the driven wheel,

(d) that has an attached motor driven by electricity or having a piston displacement of not more than fifty cubic centimetres, and

(e) that does not have sufficient power to enable the bicycle to attain a speed greater than 50 kilometres per hour on level ground within a distance of 2 kilometres from a standing start; (“cyclomoteur”)[6]

Since 28 November 2005 moped drivers require either a full M licence or a restricted class M licence to legally ride on road in Ontario.[7] Prior to that date riders only required a G licence. The G licence is a "general" licence for automobile drivers such as cars, small vans and trucks.

Убедился личными глазами, в Торонто имеются мотороллеры, а не только автомобили

и стоят себе спокойно без охраны и цепей.

Не встречал в других мото-темах одного нюанса: а как в Канаде местные водители относятся к двухколесным на дороге? В Киеве, к примеру, у меня не хватает смелости сесть за руль мотоцикла.
